Abstract
The Paraná River has an irregular hydrological regime with regular and extreme floods and at the sites it flows as a typical floodplain river. The pulse regime (frequency, intensity, duration and seasonal variation) is the most important macro-factor that controls the distribution of plants in fluvial systems. Greater part of vegetation fluvial is distributed in a wide range of habitat conditions, showing it plasticity (euritypia) in populations curves. In other words: the plants are resistents to critical hydroperiods.
