Abstract
EUCALYPTUS AND PINE PLANTATIONS IN THE COUNTIES OF THE EAST OF ENTRE RÍOS. The western margin of the Uruguay River in Entre Ríos province presents climatic and soil conditions favorable for the implantation of forestal species of great productivity like Eucalyptus and pine.
Federación, Concordia, Colón, Uruguay and Gualeguaychú counties form the above mentioned area. By virtue of the great potential that the forest sector has, it tends to become a factor of development and growth for the whole state, for that reason the accurate knowledge on the location and quantification of the resource, as well as the availability of the information acquires state relevance. This work shows a method of update and follow-up forest dynamics using Landsat images 7 ETM+, from an evaluation of reference and a procedure of preparation of interactive maps of forest plantations. The categories were identified by photo-interpretation. Plantations were selected by their spectral pattern, were digitized and the statistics were obtained. The update was made using images of January of 2003 obtaining the area of plantations by category or felled plantations in that period for Federación, Concordia, San Salvador, Colón, Uruguay and Gualeguaychú counties.
