Abstract
NATIVE FOREST IN THE ENTRE RIOS PROVINCE. The remaining areas with native forests in the province of Entre Ríos (Argentina) were identified. The results are presented here, showing that only 1,360,000 ha remained at the beginning of 2003. The areas of the different kinds of forests in each Department of the province are shown. To develop this study, LANDSAT 7 ETM + images obtained in December 2002 and in January 2003 were interpreted to delimit the different types of vegetation. Classes were defined taking into account the tone, the shape, the colour , the texture, the structure and the context. To support and confirm the interpretation, field work was carried out. Patterns were identified, classes were vectorially delimited, corrected and adjusted, after which the areas corresponding to each type of forest were calculated.
