BIRDS OF THE GALLERY FORESTS OF NORTHEASTERN CORRIENTES, ARGENTINA: BIODIVERSITY, DISTRIBUTIONAL PATTERNS AND MIGRATION. We carried out a study of bird species richness, in the western side of the Uruguay River, Corrientes Province. We registered 185 species of birds, of 44 families. Psilorhamphus guttatus, Pyrrhocoma ruficeps, Amaurospiza moesta and Aimophila strigiceps are mentioned for the first time for the province. The great environmental heterogeneity where the Chacoan, Pampeana, and Paranaense regions converge it is reflected in the avifauna, and the Uruguay River serves as a biological corridor among these regions. Migratory displacements were observed in a third of the registered avifauna.
